“Showering too much can affect the way your body functions.
“The microbiome is the collection of bacteria, archeae, viruses, and other microbes that live in and on your body. These little foreign critters are deeply important to your health — without them, your immune system, digestion, and even your heart would lose function or fail entirely.
“The science doesn't yet offer a full picture of the role our microbiomes play in our lives, but compelling indirect evidence suggests that showering damages the microbiome on your skin. And without a healthy microbiome, your skin seems to struggle to maintain a healthy chemical balance and stave off damage and infection.” —Rafi Letzer, for Business Insider
Even though my body feels healthier when I don’t wash it daily, internal cleaning is something I need more often than once a week. You could say that all Qigong forms essentially do this, but this Qigong form in particular, as taught by Master Liu He, is specifically aimed at cleaning you from the inside out. Follow along; Form Notes are below.
Thank you to all my patrons! My gratitude for you lifts me up. I’m continually inspired by your support, your engagement, your encouragement, and most of all, your practice. ✨🙏🏼✨
If you’d like to learn Qigong from me you don’t have to be in New Mexico— you can learn with me online. The subscription series is a Pay What You Like offering. You get a new, full-length Qigong Lesson Film every month and instant access to the entire archive when you sign up via Patreon.com/breafisher.

[FORM NOTES] Taking a Qi Shower

2 Lift the arms above the head
3 Allow the fingertips to find each other; gather the fresh, bright Sky Qi above the head
4 Bring the fingers down onto the head: Let the Sky Qi wash through the crown
5 Trace the fingers lightly down the cheeks and neck like rain
6 At the Middle Dantien (Heart Center) the palms face skyward and slice under the arms
7 Press the palms down the back of the torso, taking time to give the kidneys (and all the organs) gratitude
8 Fold at the waist and send the palms down the back of the legs
9 Point the crown to the Earth and Draw the hands around the ankles and sides of feet
10 Lift the chest briefly and let it float the palms before they draw back over the top of the feet
11 Bend the legs, roll up the spine, and draw the palms over the fronts of the legs, and front of the torso
12 Cross the arms at the chest and draw the palms to the tops of the shoulders
13 Draw down the arms to meet the wrists
14 Earthward palms turn to the sky, rotate skyward palms (Plum Flower Hands), turn them earthward, and align the palms
15 Wash the mind, sending the palms over the skull
16 Press the fingers (index, middle + ring) onto Da Zhui, the Great Hammer acupoint located at C7, the bottom cervical vertebra at about the level of the shoulders; Reset
17 Repeat by lifting the palms over the head, sending the palms down the face without touching it for all subsequent repetitions. Repeat three times at the very least, and nine times ideally.
18 To close the set from Da Zhui, your "reset button," lift the palms over the head, then down the front with skyward palms following the same two lines they took to begin the whole sequence and ending with arms at your sides, forward-facing palms. Cover the Dantien.
